RYFP Earth Day Celebration
April 25, 2009

On April 25th, 2009, twelve clients of the RYFP Program in Pinellas County got together at Eckerd College to celebrate Earth Day by giving back to the environment.  After learning about environmental volunteerism and why it is important, the clients were paired with Eckerd students from the Department of Environmental Studies and given a tree to plant.  Each pair worked on digging holes, planting, watering, and getting mulch for the tree, while staff and students helped explain the process to the clients.  Thanks to some large donations from our wonderful community partners, the group planted over 50 trees all together.  Clients ended the day with some snacks and time to reflect with their new friends on what they had learned, and how they had helped the planet.
